Raising in the Hydraulic Press

This intensive, hands on course is
held in Taos, New Mexico at Poirier Studio, where the presses
and tooling are manufactured.
This workshop is designed to expand
the skills of the intermediate to advanced student. Students
will experience the wealth of options available in creating jewelry
and holloware with volume and form. Non-traditional methods of
raising and sinking will be our main focus.
The workshop will cover the process and procedures of using a
deep-draw press. Both 20 ton standard and 50 ton
deep-draw presses will be utilized to draw sheet
into deep volume forms such as boxes, cups, vases and bowls.
The artist will teach with a "hands-on" approach so
students might better understand processes. The development of
shape, volume, texture and color on metal will be emphasized.
Copper will be supplied for both small jewelry objects and large
holloware objects. Students are encouraged to bring their own
silver for creating vessel preforms which can be finished in
their own studios. The class is limited to six students only.
Metals will be made available to students. For examples please
