Learn to utilize the power of 3D modeling for your
jewelry designs using the easiest
three-dimensional modeling software available, Rhino 3D, which
provides the tools to accurately model your designs ready for
rendering, analysis, and manufacturing. This class is for beginning
to advanced students and requires only that you know your way
around Windows (how to open, close, and save). Starting from
a pencil sketch, you will learn to transfer your drawing into
the
computer space, model your sketch in 3D, render it almost photographically
for a client, and then send it to a 3D printer or 3D mill
for manufacturing. This technique works for wax, silver, gold,
resin for wax molds, tool steel for dies, etc. You will also
learn the
fundamentals and strategies of the 3D mill. Phil has been using
computer modeling and machining in his jewelry for several years
and is currently designing and producing a line of chains and
rings made with these techniques.
